Miles of Trails:
4.5 mile of multiple loops.

Equestrian Camping:
Not Allowed.

Trail Notes:
This trail system has one trail open to us, the Grotpeter Trail.  This trail was a lot prettier, and harder, than I had imagined.  With the inner connecting trails on the Grotpeter trail, the mileage is closer to about 8 miles. It's VERY steep in some places, and very pretty overall.  The biggest hazard on Grotpeter trail is crossing a blacktop road that doesn't have a lot of site distance for drivers.  This trail, as it leaves the equestrian parking lot, runs along the creek, but then it makes it's way over to another parking lot, and the trail from that lot is also VERY steep.  So steep in fact that there are signs telling the mountain bike riders that it is one way only. They can go up, but they can't come down that way.  We got up to the top of a ridge where we could look down at the Meramec River, then there's another steep climb before it finally descends back down and comes back to the creek.  The trail is heavily used by mountain bike riders and hikers so your biggest caution is to watch out for other trail users, but there are also other road crossings, wooden bridges to cross, and the creek crossing has steep sides on each side of the trail with a metal piece of something sticking up out of the ground that you have to be careful to avoid.

Other Trail Users:
Hikers and mountain bike riders.
