All the highline posts at the Brazil Creek Campground have been replaced with new ones.
Directions:
Brazil Creek Campground: From St. Louis, take I-44 west to Hwy N in Bourbon. Go west on Hwy N to Hwy W. Go south on W to the campground on your right. If you cross the bridge over the creek, you've gone too far, or if the pavement ends.
Berryman Campground: Follow the above directions, pass the Brazil Creek Camp, continue up the hill, turning left onto F.R. 2265. Follow F.R. 2265 until you come to C.R. 207. Turn right. Follow C.R. 207 to the Berryman Campground entrance on the right.

Brazil Creek Campground: Totally primitive, nothing but highline posts.
Berryman Campground: Primitive campsites that include picnic tables, lantern posts, firepits, and there is an outhouse here.
Trail Notes:
The trail is marked with white diamonds. The switchbacks above Brazil Creek Campground are made of log retaining walls held in place by spikes sticking up about 6" on the downhill side of the trail. There are some shale spots on the west side of the trail near the campground that can be tricky for inexperienced horses. Most of the trail is wooded, but some sections have been logged or burned & can get very overgrown in the summer. This is a favorite mountain biking trail & they love to ride it fast. Logging roads can shorten your ride if needed. Hazards also include ATV's on the forest roads and bears.
