Lake Wappapello State Park Trail

Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources

Location:
Wayne County

News, Updates, & Warnings:
Hunting is not allowed here.

Directions:
From Poplar Bluff, take Hwy 67 north to Hwy 172.  Turn east on Hwy 172 and drive to the state park entrance.  Turn left at the gravel drive across from the park sign and follow to the trailhead parking lot at the end of the drive.

Miles of Trails:
12.75 mile loop, plus 10 miles of connector trails to the Lake Wappapello Section of the Ozark Trail

Equestrian Camping:
Not allowed.

Trail Notes:
This trail also connects down the line with University Forest Conservation Area trails.  There is close to 100 miles of riding accessible just from this trail's trailhead.  Normally the trail is well marked, there is downfall to negotiate, creek crossings, and a few hills to climb.  A fun ride but not necessarily rugged.  There are a few tall overlooks above the lake so make sure to stay back from the ledge.  This trail is in a storm prone section of the state, which can make the trail impassable due to downed trees, debris, or flooding, so be sure and call ahead if you are coming very far, to check out the trail conditions.

Other Trail Users:
Hikers & mountain bike riders.
