1. Turn your clock back 1 hour before you go to bed Saturday night, Nov. 5th.
2. Get a fire extinguisher if you don't have one or replace it if it shows any signs of wear.
3. Make sure your liquid medications, etc., are protected and can't freeze. Bring them in the house for the winter if you don't have a freeze protected area in the barn.
4. If you blanket your horse in the winter, get it out to check for damage or wear. Get it cleaned and repaired if needed.
5. If you use a tank heater in the winter, check it over to see that it's in working order.
6. If you have a winter/sacrifice paddock, add a new layer of gravel if needed.
7. Check your lighting needs, including outside flood lights. Install new lights and/or bulbs so you don't have to use a flashlight to care for your horses in the dark.
8. Check your fencing and repair anything in need now. You don't want to have to deal with it later in cold, windy, snowy, or icy conditions.
9. Check your tractor and give it a tuneup & new battery if needed.
10. Once the leaves are done falling, check & clean your gutters and downspouts. Make sure water from the gutters drains away so you won't have standing water that turns icy.
