Directions:
Sam A. Baker Trailhead & Campground: From Farmington, take Hwy 67 south 42.7 miles to Hwy 34. Turn west on Hwy 34 and go 3.7 miles to Hwy 143, then go 4.8 miles into the park. The day use area is on the left, and the equestrian campground is another 1.5 miles further (past the park office) on the right. Turn right onto the gravel road by the sign, and then take the first right into the campground.
Hwy 34 TH: From Fredericktown, Hwy 67 south 26.5 miles
to Hwy 34, turn west for 2.8 miles to TH on left.
Hwy FF TH: From Poplar Bluff, Hwy 67 north 27.7 miles to Hwy FF, turn west for 3.3 miles to FR29. Turn right to TH on left. This road is prone to flooding.
Hwy 67 TH: From Poplar Bluff, Hwy 67 north 26.5 miles to TH on right.
Hwy F TH: From Poplar Bluff, Hwy 67 north 23.9 miles to Hwy F, turn east for 1.1 miles to TH on right.
Hwy 172 TH: From Poplar Bluff, Hwy 67 north 15.8 miles to Hwy 172, turn east for 1.5 miles to TH on left.

Not feasible. Trail is too rugged and narrow.

Hwy FF TH: Yes, but requires a free special use permit from the US Army Corp. of Engineers.
Hwy F: Yes
Hwy 172: Yes
Primitive disbursed camping along the trail on USFS land only, not on any of the US Army Corp. of Engineers Land.
Trail Notes:
Trail is marked mostly with the small green and white Ozark Trail symbols, however it's also marked with white diamonds where it goes through USFS land. The trail tread is single track and often rocky. It can get very muddy in places in the spring rainy season. There are hills to climb, road and highway crossings, deadfall, and creeks to negotiate. This trail is prone to flooding so please call 877-LAKE-INFO before you leave to check conditions.
