Horseback riding is permitted on various selected Refuge roadways throughout the year.
The Refuge Auto Tour Route is available throughout the year.
Directions:
From Poplar Bluff, take Hwy 60 east to Hwy 51, turn north. Follow Hwy 51 north to the entrance on the left.
Miles of Roads:
20 miles, more or less, or road riding.
Equestrian Camping:
Not allowed.
Trail Notes:
This is a level chip and seal paved road that you have to ride. The area is beautiful with a lot of wildlife to enjoy watching. It could be a great wet weather season alternative it it's not water fowl migrating season. I'd be hesitant to ride here when there's a chance of 100's ob birds taking off at the same time. This is a swamp so bring lots of bug spray for you and your horse. Make sure your horse is vaccinated for West Nile Virus.
